4/03 – “White Day” for Peace

Message from the EEBIV management team

  • Solidarity with Ukraine

The Secretary-General and the European Schools are deeply affected by the current conflict taking place in the heart of Europe.

Enclosed you will find a letter from the Secretary-General of the European Schools, Mr Andreas Beckmann, regarding this issue.

The Directors of the four European Schools of Brussels have decided to organise a “White Day” for Peace on Friday 4 March 2022.

On Friday, we invite the whole school community – pupils, teachers, educational advisors, assistants and administrative and ancillary staff members – to wear white clothes as a sign of our solidarity and commitment to peace.

More than ever, we would like to emphasise the values of the European Union, which are dear to our community: The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail Article 2 of the Treaty of European Union.

Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine.
