cloverOn 17 March, the Irish celebrate Lá Fhéile Pádraig  or Saint Patrick’s Day. Saint Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland.  He is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and for driving the snakes away!

On St. Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing or accessories (the “wearing of the green”). ‘Why is the Shamrock the National Flower of Ireland ?’ St. Patrick used it to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagans.

In our Secondary School, later this months the pupils will have the opportunity to take part in an Irish céilí with a live céilí band. This cultural project has been funded by the Community Fund and has been organised by Mr DeBurca.
