End of year message

Dear Parents, Dear families,

The school year 2016-2017 has come to an end. We hope everything went as good as possible for your children and yourself.

Baccalauréat

The end of this year is particularly noteworthy as our school congratulated its first bacheliers at the Baccalauréat Ceremony.

It should be noted that the success rate has been exceptional.

We would like to thank parents from our school who participated in the Baccalauréat’s proper functioning; Bart Neerscholten, Darija Colja, Ines Hartwig, Joachim Tasso-Vilallonga, Kirsten Maher, Sara Panelli.

Our successful students will henceforth be Ambassadors of a Europe united in diversity.

On behalf of all the parents, we warmly congratulate them.

Extraordinary general meeting

The extraordinary general meeting, announced at the GA of December 8th, has been convened on June 26th in order to vote the revision of our association’s statutes.

Unfortunately there was no quorum of class representatives. The revision of statutes could thus not be voted.

In order to identify the reasons why some parents do not seem concerned about the APEEE works, a reflection with the section representatives has been opened up during the meeting regarding the parent’s role in school life and the representative system.

In any case, we would like to thank the class representatives who mobilized and/or came (or granted proxy) the 26th of June, as well as people who provided us their comments on the draft text.

We will come back to you at the start of the new school year with proposals and a consolidated case.

Monitoring group of the European Schools

On 27 June 2017, Mr Marchegiano, the Secretary-General of the European Schools, convened an extraordinary meeting of the monitoring group comprised of schools directors, APEEE presidents, teachers representatives, European Commission representatives, Personnel Committee representatives as well as the Belgian “Régie des bâtiments”.

The subject of long term strategies regarding the management of the growing number of students has been discussed at the meeting on the basis of two simulations.

School start

As in previous years, a coffee break will take place the first day of the new school year under the canteen building.

We would also like to remind you that the book sales will take place the 11 and 12 September at the school in order for you to make your last year’s school books available and to buy those necessary for the school year 2017-2018.

(See the message sent by your class representatives a few days ago).

The Parents Association (APEEE) will continue to provide the services your children and yourself need thanks to your feedback and constructive remarks. Do not hesitate to communicate with the Executive board members; you will find the chart here

On behalf of the Parents Association of the European school, I wish each and every one of you a wonderful summer holiday.

Catherine Daguet-Babich

Présidente de l’APEEE de Bruxelles IV-Laeken
